ANSI Standard PL/B Language and Visual PL/B

PL/B Introduction

NOTE TO OUR READERS
This web resource is written for our own use. But we feel strongly that the PL/B language should be shared with the software community. So feel free to use this at will! BUT PLEASE... if you find errors or omissions or have a better way to do something. TELL US! Dialog helps us all. Send e-mail to: support@mmcctech.com

Over the years we've written lots of notes on Databus and PL/B and how we work in our company. Most of that information was in a notebook. Too much of it was hand written.

Several years ago we started taking some of the notes and doing help files for our own use. Then we did one set as HTML for browsing internally.

Now we've moved most of our notes to HTML, and we decided to make them public by posting them to our web site. Everyone is free to use this information. We hope that it helps someone.

Our main focus is going to be the Sunbelt VISUAL PL/B products for Windows. That's the area where we work the most and where information is most useful.

Don't expect this to web site to cover everything. We update it when we get around to it. There are other things keeping us busy.

And we're NOT experts by any means. Although we've been writing PL/B systems for over 25 years (yes, TWENTY FIVE YEARS!), we're always learning more. Since moving heavily into VISUAL PL/B in the late 1990's the learning curve has gone up again. We can do the old DOS stuff in our sleep. Windows took some new thinking.

Along with our move to VISUAL PL/B, we've embraced Sunbelt's "forms designer" product for building most of our GUI screens. But we have our own approach to how to pull all the components together. We'll try to explain that at some point.

If you find this site and have comments PLEASE TELL US! Sunbelt runs a nice discusion group on their web site, but it's conversational and can be very technical. We want this area to be more tutorial. Give us feedback and we'll see about incorporating it.
